Take my hand is the Alpo Aaltokoski Company’s holistic dance evening, where contemporary dance collaborates with Finnish social dancing. Now the work returns to the stage ten years after its premiere.
This summer, Take my hand will be seen at the Kaustinen folk music festival in July, where the evening culminates in stage dances accompanied by a live orchestra. In August, the work will be seen in Vuotalo in Helsinki.
Genuine encounter and presence are one of the biggest challenges of our time. In dance stages, we gather to be physically present with each other, and the social dance culture enables contact that complies with the rules. Take my hand creates a dance restaurant-like milieu in the performance space, where the evening culminates to social dance. The role of the wall flower is equally allowed!
