Alpo Aaltokoski has been awarded the annual Maineteko Prize by the Union of Dance and Circus Artists Finland!

The year 2022 Tanssin Maineteko prize will be awarded to all those who took part in advancing the Dance House project. The project would not have been possible without the hard work of so many people and believing in the importance of dance. The Union of Dance and Circus Artists Finland (STST) has also been pushing for the establishment of the Dance House for many decades.

The 2022 award proposals highlighted two names that were of particular importance in the critical stages of the project: dance artist Alpo Aaltokoski and project manager Hanna-Mari Peltomäki.

Alpo Aaltokoski convened professionals in the field to discuss the Dance House in the spring of 2007. After that, a number of dance field activists submitted a space mapping proposal to the City of Helsinki, which resulted in a significant move forward. Aaltokoski has done extensive work as an advocate for the dance field and especially the free field, and his contribution has also been important to the Dance House project.
